Greening our Buildings

Low Carbon Buildings 

The Council has installed PV arrays at the following buildings:

• Ards Blair Mayne Leisure Centre (16kWp)
• Comber Leisure Centre (15kWp)
• Londonderry Park (19kWp)
• City Hall Bangor (5kWp)
• Bangor Sportsplex (3kWp)
• Waste Transfer Station Bangor (21kWp)

We also have Combined Heat and Power units at both Ards Blair Mayne Wellbeing and Leisure Complex and Bangor Aurora Aquatics and Leisure Complex to generate free electricity from the gas heating of the building.

We also have an 850kW wind turbine at Waste Transfer Station in Bangor.

Renewable Energy

The Council has a green 100% renewable electricity tariff from our utility supplier GoPower (certificates can be accessed below).  

We have a full time Energy Efficiency Officer responsible for Council buildings.
