Requesting an Internal Review
You can request an Internal Review if your Freedom of Information (FOI) request is denied or you receive an unsatisfactory response - for example if you are not happy with the way your request for information has been handled, the fee that has been charged or if you believe that we have incorrectly applied an exemption or exception and wrongly withheld information.
You may request a review in writing or by telephone to:
Ards and North Down Borough Council
City Hall, The Castle
Bangor, BT20 4BT
Telephone: 0300 013 3333 (ask for the Freedom of Information Team)
Please note that under the legislation, requests for an Internal Review must be submitted within two months from the date of the date the response was issued.
The review will be conducted by a panel who were not involved with the original request and this will be an objective assessment of how the request was handled.
We aim to issue an internal review response within 20 working days from receipt of the request for an internal review.
If you are not satisfied with the way in which an Internal Review has been handled, you may contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) using one of the options below.
Please note that the ICO generally expects Internal Reviews to be completed prior to reviewing the decisions of public bodies.
