Making a FoI Request

What happens when I make a request?

When we receive your request for information, we must check that it is a valid request. Please provide your full name and contact information. If the request is for your personal information this will be sent to the Data Protection Officer for processing. Freedom of Information deals with all other requests for information not routinely available through normal business or published online.

We will acknowledge your request and advise you that we have 20 working days (i.e. days other than weekends and public holidays) from the date of receipt of your request, to provide you with the information unless an exemption under the legislation applies. Please see Exemptions for further information.

On occasions we may require further clarification about your request to allow us to respond correctly. In such circumstances we will contact you for this clarification and the clock will stop while we await your response.  This may lengthen the response time.

In certain circumstances we may have to extend the response time. We will advise you if this is the case.

We believe that, where possible, information should be available to you at no cost. If a charge is applicable, for example if the request requires more than 18 hours to collate a response, we may advise that we are unable to process the request, or advise you that a fee is applicable. The request will not be progressed until the fee is paid.
