Sponsorship and Vendor Supply in Ards and North Down: Parks and Open Spaces
Ards and North Down Borough Council comprises an area of 228 square miles, combining attractive coastline with many pleasant open spaces. The borough has a population of 157,000 and is a popular location for holidays, particularly in summer and for families and those seeking activities outdoors.
Expression of Interest: Concession Opportunity at Bangor Castle Walled Garden (Closing date: 21 March 2025)
Within its portfolio, Council manages the award-winning Bangor Castle Walled Garden. The Walled Garden is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. Varieties of flowers, plants, fruit and vegetables mix with sculptures and a unique fountain.
The Ward family designed the Castle Park Walled Garden in the 1840s. It was never open to the public and was considered by many as a secret garden. The then named North Down Borough Council restored this beautiful the Garden and it was officially opened as a visitor attraction in April 2009. The 1.5 acre site has four distinct sections — the kitchen garden, the herb and topiary garden, the swamp garden and the flower garden. It boasts two unique pieces of sculpture inspired by North Down's maritime history. Seating is available throughout the garden.
The garden is set within the picturesque surrounds of Castle Park which is also home to Bangor Castle (Town Hall) and North Down Museum.
Bangor Castle Walled Garden further provides opportunity for a vendor to provide catering in a popular tourist attraction.

Ards and North Down Borough Council have just launched a new Roundabout Sponsorship opportunity for local businesses.
This provides a local, affordable and effective way for you to share your message with:

- More than 97,000 People of working age (18-65)
More than 39,000 Older people (65+)

Information on current opportunities for the supply of Ice cream and Hot drinks within Parks and Open Spaces
Ards and North Down Borough Council comprises an area of 228 square miles, combining an attractive coastline with many pleasant open spaces. The borough has a population of 157,000 and is a popular location for holidays, particularly in summer and for families and those seeking activities outdoors.
Since its inception in 2015, the Council has operated an annual Expression of Interest competition to operate on a range of Council sites among mobile Vendors of Ice Cream. Due to demand from other mobile Vendors, from 2021 this competition will be extended to Vendors of a) Ice Cream and b) Hot Drinks. Vendors of either product will also be allowed to sell a range of ancillary products (crisps, confectionery etc) but not hot food.
A full specification of the service required can be found in 'Downloads' at the bottom of the page. It should be noted that Vendors will be required to submit separate bids to be the primary supplier of Ice Cream and/or the primary supplier of Hot Drinks on each site.
The Council is aware that some Ice Cream Vendors can supply both Ice Cream and Hot Drinks, however separate bids to supply each product must be submitted.
Successful primary Vendors who supply Hot Drinks only should be aware that there may be a primary Vendor of Ice Cream on the same site who also can sell Hot Drinks. There is no practical way the Council can restrict this, so the primary Vendor of Hot Drinks must either accept this element of competition or will have the option to withdraw from the competition before the contract period begins, should this situation arise.
