Car Parking Strategy

Our Responsibilities

We are responsible for 43 car parks in Ards and North Down. Of these 43 car parks, 21 are free to use and 22 are charged.

Through the provision, management and enforcement of our car parking facilities, we aim to support the economic vitality of our town centres by providing appropriate levels of affordable short stay car parking for shoppers, visitors and business users.

Car Parking Strategy

Ards and North Down Borough Council is working to develop a Car Parking Strategy for the borough. It is aimed at supporting the prosperity and sustainability of our town and village centres by ensuring car parking provision is accessible, convenient and of a quality standard. It considers how this aspiration can be financed. In line with the Council's commitment to sustainable development, it also considers how the strategy can support modal shift and methods of sustainable transport.

To develop its proposals, the Council has engaged extensively with key statutory partners including the Department for Infrastructure and with the Chambers of Trade in each of the borough's five main towns.

We are now seeking feedback from the wider public, local stakeholders and businesses that may be impacted by the proposed changes.
