Weather Warnings

The MET Office has issued a RED Warning for Wind on Friday 24 January from 07:00 to 14:00

Danger to life from flying debris, dangerous conditions, travel disruption, damage to buildings, large waves at coasts, fallen trees, and power cuts are likely.

  • Do not risk injury to others or damage to your property. If you can do so safely, check for loose items outside your home and secure them. Items include bins, garden furniture, trampolines, tents, sheds, and fences.
  • Prepare for power cuts in advance - consider gathering torches and batteries, a mobile phone power pack and other essential items.
  • Stay at home and do not travel. For your safety please do not visit our parks, open spaces and coastal areas on Friday 24 January.

All Council offices, facilities and buildings including Leisure facilities, Cemeteries, Parks, Harbours, HRCs and Community Centres will be closed. All waste and cleansing operations will also be suspended on Friday 24 January. Building Control will not be carrying out site inspections.

Notes:

  • Pickie Fun Park, Bangor and Exploris, Portaferry will be closed.
  • Skipperstone Play Club (Friday evening 5.30 - 7.30pm) will not go ahead this week. Parents have been notified via text local message.
