Find Out More About Your Employment Options at the Careers Convention on 7 February 2024

Need help, advice or support with your career or employment options? Then make sure you visit Ards and North Down Borough Council's Careers Convention at Bangor Aurora Aquatic and Leisure Complex next Wednesday 7 February between 10am and 3pm.

The Labour Market Partnership's free-to-attend event will provide support and raise awareness of local employment opportunities. Support agencies will be on hand to help with career guidance and development as well as interview techniques. You can find out what sector best suits your skills and interests, get advice on starting your own business, and find out more about apprenticeship opportunities.

Labour Market Partnerships, which create targeted employment action plans for council areas, are funded by the Department for Communities, and allow for collaboration at local and regional level to support people towards and into work.

The Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Jennifer Gilmour, said:

"The Careers Convention has arisen from the need to identify and understand the gaps and barriers to employment in Ards and North Down. It will aim to ensure the participants feel supported to reach their full potential and will present opportunities to engage with support agencies, employers, education and business start-up experts."

The event will help to address gaps in the working population and bring potential employers and job seekers together with a focus on awareness of what is available in the Borough. Almost 30 local businesses will be in attendance, with representation from several sectors including care, hospitality, food manufacturing, recruitment and customer support services.

Help with travel costs is available for those in receipt of benefits, and local Jobs and Benefits offices can provide more details.

The event is free-to-attend and no booking is necessary. For more information, visit www.andbusiness.co.uk/andlmp
