Weather Alert and Council Updates [Released Friday 24 January @ 3.35pm]
Met Office Weather Warning:
- Yellow Warning for snow and ice from 7pm tonight, Friday 24 January to 10am tomorrow, Saturday 25 January.
- Amber Warning for severe weather until 9pm tonight.
Council Information:
- All Council buildings, facilities, and services will remain closed today, Friday 24 January 2025, due to the severe weather.
- Bangor Aurora Aquatic and Leisure Complex has sustained damage to the roof due to Storm Eowyn. Following the Red Warning period directives, the building was closed when the damage occurred and no formal assessment will be conducted until it is safe for our staff and contractors to do so. We are urging the public to stay away from the area and refrain from taking photographs or videos for their own safety.

Important Advice:
- Storm Éowyn has caused significant disruption, including fallen trees, road blockages, and power outages. This may delay gritting operations and make travel difficult.
- Avoid unnecessary travel. If possible, stay at home to ensure your safety.
- ⚠️ If you must travel, use caution and be aware of black ice and slippery conditions.
For your safety, please remain at home where possible during this time. Stay warm and stay safe!
