Ards and North Down Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) recently met to discuss anti-social behaviour issues in Ballyholme and in the wider Bangor area.

PCSP members were joined by MLAs and councillors representing the Bangor area to hear from Superintendent Johnston McDowell in relation to the PSNI response to reports of anti-social behaviour in the Ballyholme area.

Those at the meeting were updated on the ongoing work of the multiagency taskforce that includes representatives from Council, PSNI, Translink, DfI, DAERA, Education Authority and Street Pastors, who are working together to combine resources to patrol beaches over the summer months.

The Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Alistair Cathcart, said:

"The beaches in the Borough are beautiful spaces for everyone to travel to and enjoy, especially during the recent spell of good weather. I urge parents to talk to their children in relation to their safety and implore them to not get involved in behaviour that could have an impact on their choices later in life."

The Chair of Ards and North Down PCSP, Councillor Vicky Moore, said:

"As a PCSP, we are grateful to PSNI and all the officers who have been dealing with several incidents in the Borough over the past few weeks. We particularly welcome the update from the Commander who was able to confirm what happened at Ballyholme Beach on 11 April, dispelling some of the myths that were reported on social media."
