Queen's Hall hosts Tea Dance

More than 100 people attended a tea dance organised by Ards and North Down Borough Council that was held at Queen's Hall, Newtownards, on Tuesday 11 February. Attendees were treated to an afternoon of sequence and ballroom dancing while others simply enjoyed the atmosphere.
Several exhibitors were also in attendance including Ards and North Down Policing and Community Safety Partnership, DeafBlind UK, and Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke who were able to provide some information on support services available to people, while Tesco donated items towards the event.
The Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Alistair Cathcart, said:
"Participation in social activities, especially for older people, are essential to good health and mental wellbeing. The tea dance events are already well attended and cater for both regular and non-regular dancers. They give people who are not normal dancers the opportunity to come along and learn dance sequences or just come along for a chat over a cup of tea or coffee and a sweet treat."
