Join us for a BioBlitz event at Whitespots Country Park this August!

What is a BioBlitz?

A BioBlitz focuses on finding and identifying as many species as possible in a specific area over a short period of time.

  • No booking required, just turn up on the day!

Join local experts for themed walks and talks to explore and record the biodiversity of Whitespots Country Park. Schedule of sessions is below::

Friday 16 August

  • 10:00am -12pm -Moth Identification - Ross McIlwrath  
  • 10:00am - 11:00am - Bird Walk & Talk - Spouncer Ecology  
  • 10:30am - 11:30am - TCV Lauren McFarland - Minibeast/Bug Hunt  
  • 12:00 - 1:00pm - Tree Id - Field Studies Ireland 
  • 2:00 - 3:00pm - Pollinators & FIT count with NIEA (NI Environment Agency) 
  • 2:30 - 3:30pm - Plant and Bryophytes walk with Richar Weyl 
  • 3:00pm - 4:00pm - Biodiversity walk & talk - The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) 
  • 3:00PM - 4:00PM - The Birds of Whitespots - British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) 

Saturday 17 August

  • 10:00am - 11:00am -The birds of Whitespots - Spouncer Ecology 
  • 10:30am - 11:30am - Tree Identification - Field Studies Ireland  
  • 11:30am - 12:30am - Pollinators & FIT Counts with (NI Environment Agency) 
  • 1:00pm - 2:00pm - Pond Dipping - ANDBC 
  • 2:00pm - 3:00pm - Minibeasts - Royal society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) 
  • 2:30pm - 3:30pm - Plant and Bryophytes walk with Richard Weyl  
  • 3:00pm - 4:00pm - Biodiversity walk & talk - Spouncer Ecology 

Please wear suitable outdoor clothing. Children under 16 to be accompanied by adults/guardian. Due to the nature of Whitespots, this event may be more suitable for older children (aged 6 years+).
